Do you dream of crafting a novel that captivates like The Hunger Games? In this six-week intensive workshop, led by the acclaimed YA novelist A.K. Small, you'll learn the secrets to creating a propulsive page-turner that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Week 1: Crafting Your Protagonist  Dive deep into the heart of your main character. Explore their desires, needs, and darkest secrets, and map out their transformative arc. Understand how these elements are pivotal in driving your story forward.

Week 2: The Central Question  Every compelling story has a core question that propels the narrative. Learn how to define this question for your novel and how it differently influences each character, enriching your narrative and adding depth to your character ensemble.

Week 3: Discovering Your Writing Identity  Are you driven by plot, character, or setting? This week, you'll identify what fuels your writing process and how to harness your natural strengths to enhance your storytelling.

Week 4: Building Momentum  Focus on creating relentless forward momentum. Discuss techniques for crafting tension, raising stakes, and keeping your readers desperate to turn the page.

Week 5: The Power of Setting  Delve into the significance of place within your novel. Understand why your setting is not just a backdrop but a catalyst that influences the mood, tone, and trajectory of your narrative.

Week 6: Mastering Language and Style  Develop your unique voice. Learn how to use language and style to your advantage, making your writing not just seen but felt.

Interactive Components:  Each week, we will kick off with an analysis of passages from *The Hunger Games*, studying how Suzanne Collins masterfully manipulates words, scenes, and images. You will apply these insights by writing parts of your novel, which will be workshopped in group sessions. We will also examine select passages from other novels to highlight various writing techniques.

This workshop is designed for writers who are serious about honing their craft and embarking on a journey to not only write their story but also to captivate and resonate with readers worldwide.
